The Milwaukee Brewers are one victory from their first franchise championship after a 10-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the 2026 World Series on Monday night. The result gave Milwaukee a 3-0 series lead and left the Rays facing a possible sweep.

The game turned on a fifth inning in which the Brewers scored eight runs, all of them with two outs. The inning appeared to be over when Christian Yelich hustled to second base on a play that was first treated as the final out. Replay overturned the call and ruled him safe, and Milwaukee went on to send seven straight batters to the plate who all recorded hits, spraying the ball to all fields without hitting a home run. The Brewers already held a 2-0 lead at that point.

Left fielder Jackson Chourio was the star of the night. The 22-year-old went 4-for-5 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, collecting two of his hits in the big fifth. It was his third consecutive multihit game to open the series, making him the 26th player to do so and the youngest.

The numbers around the performance were striking. The eight two-out runs are the second most in a single inning in postseason history, behind the 10 the 2020 Dodgers scored in the first inning of NLCS Game 3. Milwaukee is the first team to have seven consecutive batters get a hit in a postseason game. The Brewers also became the first club to lead a World Series game by 10 or more runs through five innings since the 2007 Red Sox, and the first to reach double digits in a World Series game without a homer since the 2014 Royals.

Chourio became the fourth player with four hits in the first five innings of a World Series game, joining George Brett in 1985, Mickey Mantle in 1960 and Joe Dugan in 1923. At 22 years and 229 days, he is also the youngest player with four hits in a World Series game since Joe Garagiola in 1946.

Milwaukee has now outscored Tampa Bay 18-6 in the series and has scored 15 straight runs since the Rays opened a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning of Game 2. The Brewers have hit only one home run in the series, a solo shot by Sal Frelick in Game 2, meaning 5.6% of their runs have come on homers. Across the playoffs, Milwaukee has had the highest scoring offense of the 12 postseason teams per game, with only about a quarter of its runs coming via the long ball. The 10 runs tied a franchise postseason record, matching Game 1 of the 1982 World Series.

Milwaukee has not yet named its Game 4 starter, but a bullpen game is expected. Back-to-back off days mean the relief corps will be rested, with Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill likely to feature. Shane Drohan and Dustin May are possible options to face the Rays' lineup the first time through, and JoJo Romero, DL Hall and Antonio Senzatela have also been effective this postseason.

Tampa Bay will try to stay alive on Tuesday with Griffin Jax, its No. 4 starter, beginning the game, followed by a series of relievers. The Rays will need their offense to improve if they hope to extend the series.
