Milwaukee fans watching from their living rooms face a simple binary choice on Tuesday evening: watch the Brewers clinch their first World Series title, or watch the Tampa Bay Rays lose the fourth game of a series they have not won since 2020. The Brewers defeated the Rays 10-1 in Game 3 on Monday night, extending their lead in the best-of-seven series to 3-0. With the sweep in sight, the franchise has secured a spot in the history books regardless of the outcome, as neither team has ever won a championship.
Robert Gasser delivered a dominant performance on the mound during Monday's rout. The offensive explosion allowed Milwaukee to close out the game with a comfortable margin, making the series result largely a foregone conclusion heading into Tuesday. The Brewers earned their place in the World Series by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. They defeated the Dodgers in four straight games, winning the final contest 6-4 on October 15.
Tampa Bay entered the World Series with its own recent success in mind. The Rays captured the American League pennant by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games. Junior Caminero hit a decisive home run in Game 6 of that series, which concluded on October 19. This marks the Rays' third World Series appearance in franchise history. Their previous trips were in 2008, when they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, and 2020.
The schedule dictates that Game 4 will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. If the Rays manage to win, the series moves to Game 5 on Wednesday, also at 8 p.m. Eastern in Tampa Bay. The following two games, if necessary, are scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Milwaukee.
The path to this moment involved close finishes in the earlier stages of the postseason. The Brewers won their National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres in five games. The Rays eliminated the New York Yankees in three games during the American League Division Series. In the Wild Card rounds, the White Sox and Yankees secured first-round wins, while the Braves and Phillies advanced before being eliminated in later rounds.
The Brewers' current run includes victories in Games 1 and 2 of the World Series. Milwaukee won 3-2 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday. These narrow margins contrast sharply with Monday's 10-1 score. The Rays have now been held to four total runs across the first three games of the series, highlighting the defensive disparity between the two teams so far.
